God’s Providence has a Purpose 

Luke 2:1-20 

Definition of Providence

“God cares for and directs all things in the universe through His wisdom and love.” 

- Matthew 5:45 (Nature)

- Psalm 66:7 & Luke 1:52 (Nations) 

- Galatians 1:15 & Psalm 4:8 (Our Next Step) 

Further Understanding of Providence 

“God in eternity past, in the counsel of His own will, ordained everything that will happen; yet in no sense is God the author of sin; nor is human responsibility removed.”

Providential Steps to A Manger 

- Caesar’s Decree 

- Bethlehem (David’s town / family line) 

- Joseph’s intervention (Matthew 1:18-21) 

- No Room in the inn. 

- Angel tells the Shepherds 

Providential Steps of the Shepherds 

“Fear … Peace … Joy … Telling … Glorifying”

- Same as a follower of Christ! 

God’s Providence has a Purpose! 

To Know God And Make Him Known

Jesus has brought you here today to invite you to trust Him and be saved!
